The radiation from the bactericidal lamp kills (inactivates) viruses, bacteria, mold, fungi, yeast, spores, allergens, and other microorganisms, including influenza viruses of all types (types A, B, C), viruses causing acute respiratory infections (ARI) and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), the SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) coronavirus causing COVID-19, and the Omicron coronavirus strain. How often should a germicidal lamp be replaced?
The effective service life of the BS 15W T8/G13 lamp is 9,000 hours—this is the period during which it maintains a sufficient level of germicidal UV radiation. After this period, the lamp may continue to emit light, but its disinfecting effectiveness decreases significantly, so timely replacement is essential. The actual service life depends largely on the quality of the power supply and operating conditions: unstable voltage or using the lamp in a fixture with an incompatible wattage will shorten its service life. It is recommended to keep track of the operating hours and replace the lamp once it reaches the threshold specified by the manufacturer.
